Fugazi

February 22nd, 2007 by Maks

Hoei!Last year The Evens released their recommended second album ‘Get Evens’ which encouraged me to put Fugazi’s album ‘Repeater’ in my cd-player after many, many years. Fugazi, ’cause Evens lead-singer and composer Ian MacKaye was the leading man behind this legendary American hardcore punk-rock band formed in 1987.
With Repeater came ‘3 Songs’, an EP which also was originally released in 1990, and later that same year coupled along with the LP Repeater to make up ‘Repeater + 3 Songs’. Highly explosive rock-songs with sometimes complexe structures, but at any time with lyrics very critical on the social structures. So be prepaired for some noise with political correctness (or incorrectness, that depends on you) with this almost forgotten jewel from the early nineties undergroundscene.
But beware: linksextremistiche werkschuwe krakersmuziek-alert!

update:
As Hank said in the comments, mister MacKaye ofcourse was mister Minor Threat in his early years. With a bit of luck the complete discography of them is still up.

More info about Fugazi? Check their excellent bio at Wikipedia.

Election Day – Animal Poll

November 22nd, 2006 by Vinnie

partij voor de dierenToday it is election day in the Netherlands.

For the first second time a political party for the animals is on the ballot. I’m not really an animal lover therefore I won’t vote for the animal party. But I thought such a political party in a democratic parliament that’s pretty unique.

So let’s get used to voting on animal issues. I’ve made a small poll based on two (fishy) video’s.

Vote Wiser

November 14th, 2006 by ThE_ED

The Dutch Elections are almost there, and what a lot of parties to choose from again! No wonder you can take internet-tests everywhere to see which party you should like. And we at Och can’t stay behind, but we’ll just give you our opinion on what party is the best to choose. Because PvdA and CDA get enough media-coverage already we start off with two other major parties involved in the process; SP and VVD. So let’s get down to business and see what these parties really have to offer;

WallyballWalls are often used as an election marketing tool, or – officially – as a boundary, between countries and therefore between people. But walls can also be used to hang your painting upon (we all know Banksy by now) or to use as a netting.
