Today the famous Gay Pride through the canals of Amsterdam was a great Hosmos happening like always. But sadly it wasn’t a great year for gays in Amsterdam. Gay bashing is on the rise again and dutch lawmakers will not put hate crime laws in place. In fact these government bastards are so cowardly that they forbid the Gay party in the famous Red Light district.

In the beginning of the nineties HipHop got infested by wannabe ganksta gr00ps from the West Coast, calling themselves Compton[fill in], all inspired by NWA but lacking the genious of Eazy-E and Ice Cube. Of course the East Coast lyricists, who still focussed on deliverance and braggin’ & dissing felt neglected: every shitty, nowadays forgotten MC who claimed to be from Inglewood or Compton (and dressed in black for security reasons;) got signed, and they didn’t.

This all changed, of course, with the rise and rise of The Notorious B.I.G. in 1994. However, already in 1991 a former member of the now very infamous Ultramagnetic MC’s (can you say Kool Keith?) published a very much needed antidote to all this ganksta bull shit. His name? Tim Dog. His claim to fame? Penicillin On Wax. 20 steaming, angry, funny and well-delivered East Coast songs to cure the ganksta disease. The album is non available nowadays, so download, spread the word and fuck Tim Kuik. And oh yeah, Kool Keith (as Rhythm X, one of his first alter-egos) is on board for a few songs as well.

One of my heroes, right in front of me with a big belly, looking like a catweazle without a beard, his ‘NO SMOKING’ and ‘NO PHOTOGRAPHING’ gestapo positioned at each side of the stage, I knew it won’t work.
Stripped from every rock & roll ambiance he did what he had to do: playing songs and that was about it. Some pretty average rocksongs, some experimental electronic and viola shit and some horrible versions of Velvet Underground songs. I couldn’t bare it any more longer and went home. Why do people go on like this?
Well, I better shut the fuck up, this wasn’t my concert. And in fact: do we need heroes anyway?
