Iets met blauwgeverfde indianen die een gebouw op een heuvel in moesten, daar het hart eruit gesneden en de kop er af gehakt, die een lang trap naar beneden donderde waar andere indianen er een feestje mee ging vieren. En toen iets met en zondverduistering en 1 van die indianen werd een soort mc gyver en maakte zn achtervolgeers allemaal dood. uiteraard geen aftiteling dus weet de titel niet. iemand?

Trevor Reznik is a lathe-operator who suffers from insomnia and hasn’t slept in a year. Slowly, he begins to doubt his sanity as increasingly bizarre things start happening at work and at home. Haunted by a deformed co-worker who no one seems to think exists, and an ongoing stream of indecipherable Post-It notes he keeps finding on his fridge, he attempts to investigate what appears to be a mysterious plot against him and, in the process, embroils two women in his madness.
Gisteren zomaar tegengekomen op m’n hd. Random aangeklikt en enorm genoten. Geen aktie, geen geweldig plot, gewoon wat karakters die hun ding doen. Verder iets met dwergen en treinen maar eigenlijk doet dat er allemaal niet toe.
This week the new film “Slumdog Millionaire” by director Danny Boyle is going into roulation (12th of february to be precise). This years public favourite at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and other festivals. Time to present some lesser known work of Boyle, two tv movies made for auntie Beeb in the year 2001.

Sell, sell, fucking sell. A gritty view on the vacuum sales branche, especially the sales representatives. Everything for a sale. After the disappointing “The Beach” Boyle is here more on Trainspotting ground. Extremely fast paced and rough around the edges, but also very entertaining.
Strumpet
Poet Strayman meets loner Strumpet and a artistic relation is born, but then the outside world is going to emerge. Although not as fast as the previous movie, Strumpet is a energetic movie. The storyline is not quite original, but the outcome is surprisingly intriguing. One of my favourite tv movies of all time.

This is probably one of the weirdest movies you’ll ever see. I think the image on the left is already enough to give you a faint idea.. Sean Connery in a wacko red nappy running around with a gun.

In de zomer is er “altijd” het programma “Zomergasten”. Deze zomer ging een van de afleveringen over een docent Sociologie aan de EUR, Willem Schinkel. U snapt wellicht waarom Edje deze man kende.
Vorig jaar verscheen een klein boekje van zijn hand; “Denken in een tijd van sociale hypochondrie. Aanzet tot een theorie voorbij de maatschappij.” Dit boek werd door NRC Handelsblad als één van de 100 beste boeken van 2007 gekozen. In het boek beschrijft Schinkel de Hypochondrische samenleving, waarbij vele meer of minder bekende grootheden als Foucault en Luhmann de revue passeren. “We leven in een hypochondrische maatschappij, die te veel doet aan zelfanalyse en zich allerlei kwalen aanpraat”, aldus Willem Schinkel. In deze aflevering van Zomergasten dus de keuzes voor televisie en filmfragmenten van Willem Schinkel. Zijn keuze voor de eindfilm was de documentaire The Cats of Mirikitani van Linda Hattendorf.
Film-maker Chris Waitt will almost certainly never know the touch of a woman again. Which is a shame, because as his documentary A Complete History Of My Sexual Failures (the clue’s in the title) will attest, he really really needs to. He’s not hideous-looking, if you like scruffy Kurt Cobain-esque student types, and he managed to get funding for a film, so he’s got at least rudimentary powers of persuasion. But the reason no woman will ever date Chris is because he has made a film in which he interviews a string of ex-girlfriends to find out why they dumped him. [source]
