W00t! Daar zijn we weer! Met een parel uit de oude doos, gewoon omdat het zo lekker nostalgisch is. Omdat die dorre kerst er weer aan komt en je daarvoor niet genoeg beeldmateriaal in huis kan hebben. Endus, geen zin om buiten sneeuwballen te bakken of sneeuwpoppen te gooien? Gewoon lekker binnen blijven dan en op de bank gaan zitten, kabeltje tussen de compjuter en beeldbuis flitsen, bidons vullen met vocht naar keuze en aan deze marathon deelnemen! Klik!

Series 2 of Spitting Image
The satirical sketch show Spitting Image was a huge success for ITV throughout the 1980s and even well into the ’90s.
Thatcher got a particular bashing, but MPs all along the political spectrum were lampooned, and the show was so popular that the team achieved a number one hit with The Chicken Song. Now, the second series is coming out on TRRNT.

TV-Thursday: Carnivale

Als je denkt alle goede series te hebben gezien komt gelukkig Carnivale op je pad. Deadw00t en The Wire waren natuurlijk al fantastische HBO series, deze voegt zich comfortabel in het rijtje.
Een beetje de sfeer van The Kingdom en Twin Peaks (vooral omdat die dwerg meedoet) gekruisd met Deadw00t.
Lijkt me voldoende aanbeveling om het eens te checken.

Laatste aflevering Trailer Park Boys

Aangezien er geen nieuw seizoen meer zou komen had ik niet gecheckt voor nieuwe afleveringen van de beste komische serie ooit (okee, er zijn meer kandidaten voor die titel, persoonlijke mening etc etc).
Nu blijkt echter dat er in december vorig jaar, als opmaat voor de komende film, nog een enkele aflevering is gemaakt; “Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys“. Het fijne is dat dat ook nog eens de beste aflevering ooit blijkt te zijn. Wat een finale voor deze prachtserie!
Sintweekend TV Episode + Movie

In de zomer is er “altijd” het programma “Zomergasten”. Deze zomer ging een van de afleveringen over een docent Sociologie aan de EUR, Willem Schinkel. U snapt wellicht waarom Edje deze man kende.
Vorig jaar verscheen een klein boekje van zijn hand; “Denken in een tijd van sociale hypochondrie. Aanzet tot een theorie voorbij de maatschappij.” Dit boek werd door NRC Handelsblad als één van de 100 beste boeken van 2007 gekozen. In het boek beschrijft Schinkel de Hypochondrische samenleving, waarbij vele meer of minder bekende grootheden als Foucault en Luhmann de revue passeren. “We leven in een hypochondrische maatschappij, die te veel doet aan zelfanalyse en zich allerlei kwalen aanpraat”, aldus Willem Schinkel. In deze aflevering van Zomergasten dus de keuzes voor televisie en filmfragmenten van Willem Schinkel. Zijn keuze voor de eindfilm was de documentaire The Cats of Mirikitani van Linda Hattendorf.
