Personally i find Avalon a great album, if only for the the track More than this.
One of my favourite movies ‘Lost in translation’ features a scene in
which Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson are in a karaokebar in Tokyo
and Bill actually sings this song, or he tries to, a key moment in this
already classic movie. Personally i think it’s a bloody disgrace Bill
wasn’t awarded the academy award for this role, but that’s another
matter. With a bit of effort i have managed to find this part of the
movie and i’m glad to present it here.
Leaves me just to hand you down the links to RS and qfile,

RETRO: Leisure Suit Larry?
Written by Uber Heerser on Saturday, July 30th, 2005 (8)For some people, the old games that were played on the XT and AT
computers are still the best made ever. For those I’ve found the a few
old adventure games of Larry that were made by Sierra.
Leisure Suit Larry I: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards
Leisure Suit Larry II: Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (In Several Wrong Places)
Leisure Suit Larry III: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals
If you can’t play them because your system for example won’t play the sound, it could be usefull to download this program.
Next week SpaceQuest 1,2 and 3 are dropping by..
update: It seems that you’ve to wait for an hour before you can
download the next file from QuickFILE datasharingcenter. That’s why
I’ve searched a bit more and found Larry 1,2 and 3 in one file.. Click here to download

Human alert (werk in uitvoering)
Written by Uber Heerser on Friday, July 29th, 2005 (2)This Dutch punkband from Amsterdam started out in 1990 in the city of
Haarlem, releasing demo’s, lp’s, cd’s and singles in a frenzied
madness. The band is famous for their political awareness and great
live-shows. The ‘Bravo Boys’ tear you apart with their humour and
cynical irony while they march against fascists, commonness, hypocrisy,
kapitalism and 9 to 5. Their live-show is chaotic, wild, it’s Hard As
Fuck, it’s hilarious and unpredictable. A great number of people all
over can assent to that… “Plus rock n roll que Turbonegro, plus disco
que Village People. Alors Pogo! ” (as seen on Lyon poster) “You guyz
are inzane!” (a Leipzig punk.) In 1995 they published their first full
size cd called “Sex’n Drugs ‘n Anarchy”, wich contained almost
everything previously released on singles and cassettes, making the
album a great overview of the first five years of Human Alert.
Apocalyptica
Written by Uber Heerser on Friday, July 29th, 2005 (4)These guys started out in 1996 as a cello foursome, all being graduates
of the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Finland. They started out
playing Metallica covers, wich was later expanded by songs originally
recorded by Slayer, Sepultura, Ramsstein and Pantera ao. They’ve
performed live with Metallica and recorded with Nina Hagen as
guest-vocalist. Today I’m offering you where it all started.

Speciaal voor you* allemaal.

Sweet Smoke – Just a poke
Written by Uber Heerser on Thursday, July 28th, 2005 (7)
Sweet
Smoke was formed in New York City but were most popular in Germany and
the Netherlands. Their first album is actually only two songs of each
around 16 minutes long. Their short career ended in 1974 after releasing
a live album which will soon feature on this blog as well. Now you
really don’t have to be a pothead to enjoy this album i assure you, try
it.

Sheer Terror
Written by Uber Heerser on Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 (12)What to say about this band. Formed in 1985 (I think), last performance
in 2004. I’ll let these two quotes from leadsinger paul bearer speak
for themselves.
About modern-day punk rock fans: “These kids aren’t fooling anyone
about how cool they think they are. They’re the same ignorant suburban
sheep that I hated when I was a kid.”
About Sheer Terror in 1995: “I’m glad we’re at the stage of the game we
are. It’s been ten years now, and I’m thankful we’re not like all these
other friggin’ groups, jumping on bandwagons, playing bad Metal. So be
warned, we’re still here, and we’re not disappearing anytime soon. I
ain’t taking any prisoners, and I’m certainly not in this to make any
friends – so just get the hell out of my way.”

This is also very stupid, chicktionary.

The Politics in hip-hop
Written by Uber Heerser on Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 (12)Good afternoon, I am Pedigree, your new (kind of) guest-logger. The staff here (well, actually Betsy) thought I could ad something extra to this blog so I got invited to post some stuff every now and then.
My first post (w00t!) wil be about how you can go from Prince Paul to Chris Cornell in a few steps.Prince Paul started out in the eighties, teamed up with Dan the Automator for his first solo release. Few years later they team up again to form Handsome Boy Modeling School. In 2001 Automator joins Blur’s Damon Albarn for cartoon-band Gorillaz nameless debut. For the Gorillaz’ second album, Albarn asks for Dangermouse’s help. Dangermouse, famous because of his “Grey Album”, a mash-up between The Beatles’ “White Album” and Jay-Z’s “Black Album”. Automator later works with dj Shadow on the “Bombay the Hard Way” project. dj Shadow, one of the leading figures of the alternative hip-hip/trip-hop scene collarborates with James Lavelle on the first UNKLE album and goes on tour with Cut Chemist, who is also a member of Jurassic5. Jurassic5 member Chali 2na lays down the vocals on the dj Format track “We Know Something You do’t Know” and on a remix of a Linkin Park track. Shadow also joins forces with former Rage Against the Machine-frontman Zack de la Rocha for the anti-war theme “March of Death” at the begin of Gulf War II. De la Rocha also lends his vocal talents for the Roni Size & Reprazent track “Centre of the Storm”. Roni Size and Soul Coughing perform the song “A Plane Scraped it’s Belly on a Sooty Yellow Moon” on the rock meets techno “Spawn” soundtrack . Zack’s former bandmate Tom Morello also apears on the “Spawn” soundtrack with The Prodigy on “One Man Army”. Also do his former RATM-colleagues form Audioslave with former Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell. Voila.
I hope it is all spelled correctly
