No, this is not a post about that prehistoric rockband with Paul Rodgers!
After Sifco’s en *–*’s drum&bass posts, I bumped into some more drum&bass. Three mixes by drum&bass quartet Bad Company (also known as Bad Company UK or BCUK or )E|3( or whatever).
The mixes I found are the mixed bonus-disc from Inside the Machine (their debut, selling over more than 30,000 copies) and the mixed bonus-disc from Shot Down on Safari (their American debut), both featuring own material and the 2004 dj Fresh mix-cd Bass Invaderz which features tracks from Fresh himself, Subfocus, Calibre, Fierce, Total Science and Dillinja.
Three very enjoyable and diverse mixes, enjoy!

Via Junior I bumped into this video. Someone did some awesome cut&paste with material from Dutch call-in game shows. I feel sorry for the poor guy who had to go through hours and hours of all of that blablabla to create this truly roundhousekicking video. And here is part two! Enjoy!
(sorry for all you non-Dutch speakers, it’s in Dutch)

Inge, from BigBeats.nl, contacted me if wanted to make a list with my five favourite dance albums of 2005, so he could put it in a list, filled with top five’s from more people who’ve got something to do with dance-music.
Like Bong-Ra, Wim Plug, Spoof and Roowlant. It has a lot of previews of the albums and links to sites with more info and where you can buy them online.
So without further ado: here is the 2005 dance essentials yearlist!
In case you’ve missed it, here is OchBlog’s own yearlist.

Although production-team and husband & wife Michael Wells and Lee Newman recorded under many different names (including Tommy Yamaha, Tricky Disco and GTO) for labels such as XL, R&S, Mute and React, they gained most of their success as Technohead. “I Wanna Be a Hippy” stayed at number one on the Dutch charts for four weeks in mid-1995, but on August 4, just three days after the couple released their debut album Headsex, Lee Newman died of cancer.

You’ve seen him before here on Och: Eboman! I’ve mentioned him in my LowLandsLifeLog (copy+paste) with his “sensormadness” and now it’s time for some “samplingmadness”.

“Features original tracks used on the Moby album Play” says a big sticker on the cd-case.
Moby used a few old blues-samples on his succesfull album Play. It was so succesfull (I believe he made more money for letting his songs be used for commercials and chill-out compilations than from actual album sales) that everybody wanted a piece of the succes so reason enough for a complete album with the sample-sources (3 songs) and a lot more blues-evergreens. The cream of the crop of the blues is represented. BB King, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker and so on. It also has some very old “field recordings” by Alan Lomax from the ’30’s/’40’s. This is a very good album to get aquainted with the genre of blues because it covers various styles from over a stretched period of time. Enjoy.

This album has been an enormous turning point in my musical life! Being a metalhead and buying everything which had the names “Metallica” or “Slayer” on it, I bought this soundtrack for the movie Spawn which features collaborations between metal/rockbands and dj’s/dance-acts and it blew me away and opened my eyes: THERE IS MORE THAN JUST ROCK!

I don’t really like popmusic fr0m the 80’s but there are some exceptions. Like this one, by The Stranglers.

Today we bring you the debut of one of the most influential hip-hop-acts of all time, Public Enemy. “Yo! Bum Rush the Show” was released in 1987 and produced by Rick Rubin, who has also worked with/for the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Slayer, Red Hot Chili Pepers, etc. This album is one of the best albums of Public Enemy and it’s really cool to hear what hip-hop sounded like in the 80’s, so much better than most mainstream hip-hop nowadays. Enough chit-chat, enjoy!
