Fascinating docu about Tetris. All aspects of the game come to bid: origins, business deals, Atari vs. Nintendo, etc.
Quite a big download (but worth its Mb’s in gold) @ Demonoid | Torrentspy

Star Wreck, 90 minutes of SFI parody.
Joid:
Originally released in 1922 as Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie Des Grauens, director F.W. Munarau’s chilling and eerie adaption of Stoker’s Dracula is a silent masterpiece of terror which to this day is the most striking and frightening portrayal of the legend. Enjoy!
Nodog:
In the meantime, all parts of computerhistory-series “Dream Machine” (check last weeks TV-thursday) are uploaded. Dld @ Torrentspy. Really good stuff, well recommended.
+ a little extra: amazing plants.
Betsy :
There’s always room for more Johnny Cash i reckon’ ridin’ the rails (1974) on demonoid.
Be aware that this is a new torrent with 1 seeder and a 129 leechers (30th march 2006 2:35 pm) so i guess you’ll have to be patient just like me.
It ain’t so, someone like betseflots (and others) is seeding, just do it!

Nodog:
Time for a fine 1991 BBC documentary-series called Dream Machine. No… it’s not about this kind of dreamachine. I’d love to see a docu about that thing though!
Anyway, this series is about computer development and also rather interesting (if you’re nerdy enough that is ; )
Part 1 (Great Brains) is up @ Demonoid | Torrentspy, the other parts will follow later.
update:Not much going on here so here’s part2 of the series @ Demonoid | Torrentspy. This episode is even more interesting than ep1, I don’t know how much of a recommendation it is but I enjoyed myself very much watching this one.
Chocotofferts:

‘Meet Bill, psychonaut, healer, urban shaman. In this episode Bill takes 10 hits of liquid acid on a green pepper. He Then starts to get mystical and promises to perform miracles. He starts to channel spirits, one of them being Timothy Leary himself! Ending up joining the Scientologists.. (bruggetje) This is a character study of a man who lives on a different plane of existence than most people. Bill has starred in five films by Russell Hunt.’

Nodog:
Before our TV gets reposessed, check this staining reggae docu-series of the early 80’s. Mikey Dread presents “Deep Roots”. 6 episodes of which at least part 4 (with Lee Perry at his madcap best) is a must see. But even if you’re not a reggae fan this series can be very interesting for its inside view of Jamaican society of those days.
Other parts: 1 & 3, 2, 5, 6.
Sifco:

Cashback
I came across this site (/Brilliant streaming experience (not!)) with the 2005 Academy Award nominee for Best Live Action Short Film by Sean Ellis, Cashback (2004).
Of course the cover made me curious (nice model!! ; ) so I tried to find it somewhere else and luckily I did find it at rapidshare.
Also on torrentspy but that one is as dead as a peer.
The newly or nearly completed feature version of Cashback (2006) may be the first feature to contain an Oscar-nominated short within its running time.

Contribution? Joke?
Since there are no rules on Ochblog, here’s a video I (= Sergeant Baker, ed.) just received in the mail: video. Enjoy (?)
Kris:
A cool series starts tonight, 21:30 at RTL-5: Prison Break. Sort of MacGuyver versus The Shawshank Redemption.
gast!
Nothing unusual, nothing original by me, but here it is: a shamelessly funny bible diss, shamelessly ripped from the Black Forest. Must See.

thirty minute dvd-rip of the early years of the dead kennedys (go fuck yourselves).

Another UK documentary. Not your everyday, run of the mill docu though (as if I’d ever post something like that!). It’s a film about surrealism by the one and only Jonathan Meades. For semi-intellectuals like me and many others he’s a real joy to watch and one of those very, very few diamonds in the mountains of waste called “TV-programming”.

+ resumation of TV-stuff posted earlier this week: Heartworn Highways (Goodie2shoes), End of Suburbia(Betsy ergens in de comments) and last but not least; can’t find it now on RC due to the mess overthere but somewhere The House of Cosbys was mentioned and it staines quite a lot . Check the first ep & more here.

Cross topic logging bemt. This very small video shows a family member walking on her bare hands. Watch how she places her hands. Also remarkable is the monkey way of sitting in the end.

This last episode of the Jonathan Ross series is truly a must-see if you like movies and don’t know much about Korean films. The amount and quality of Korean movies in the last 10 years is totally awesome. “Oldboy” is probably the best example of that (go watch it if you haven’t yet!). Jonathan interviews the director of that classic movie in his unsurpassed “funny and informative” style. Besides that lots and lots of filmtips so keep imdb and your favourite torrentsearcher open!

The Elegant Universe is a 3 hours serie about the various “big” theories in the world. From Newton to Einstein to the string theory, all is shown and explained in neat little chapters.
Nodog
Jonathan Ross’ Asian Invasion is a new version of a series of programs Jonathan did for Channel4 in the eighties. A great series for diehard- and wannabe-fans of asian cinema but just as enjoyable for anyone who’s even slightly interested in asian culture.
The first part of the series deals with Japan, the other parts (which will be uploaded later) are about Korea and Hong-Kong.

First off, yet another fascinating music-docu. this time about John Peel’s Recordbox. Here’s an excerpt from the info file:
In a small, battered wooden box, the DJ kept a precious selection of 7-inch singles that meant more to him than any of the others. This one-hour special reveals the contents of this box.
Providing a unique insight into his eclectic tastes, it tells the extraordinary stories behind the records and the artists who created them.
If you know John Peel a bit there’s the usual suspects (the Fall, Undertones), but also some total surprises. At least I didn’t know he was a huge White Stripes fan!

As you might have noticed I’m quite a fan of music-documentaries. This weeks favourite is Johnny Cash – Live In San Quentin (1969). Not only his gig is mesmerizing but the way the prisoners react is just as likely to produce chickenskin. In those days prison was something else, just listen to their stories which are cut with footage of the live-show.
big download (but hey… it’s worth it) @ torrentspy.
update:there have been some reports of trouble with this torrent. Clients that definitely work are µTorrent and azureus.

nodog: Let me start off with a retro music program: “Sounds of the 70s”. Betsy wanted to have the episode with Boney M and The Carpenters but this time he won’t get his sin. I’ve chosen the progrock one, if only because of the appearance of Focus. Besides Focus’ pratrawk, there’s very good footage of acts like Captain Beefheart, Jethro Tull and Yes. Oh.. and do watch out for The Alex Harvey band for some awesome hosmo behaviour! demonoid/torrentspy

Earlier, when everything was better, TV shows were the big thing everyday saturdayevening. And a big legend in the Dutch TV-show history is the famous Ron Brandsteder. He made some fantastic television programs for the Dutch; i say The Honeymoonquiz, Joketoppers, Starappartment, Let them but laughing and recently Dancing with the Stars.
An enormous amount of hilarious things had happened with him. And here is one of them; the bird.
(Yes, I know Betsy its not 15 minutes, but remeber that the avarage concentrationbow is still the same as a goldfish has)
Betsy :
Couldn’t find anything useful yet, but i did find this rather essential list of firsts on TV.

This is supposed to be the american pilot version of BBC’s pretty funny Sci-Fi series Red Dwarf. Haven’t had the chance to see it yet, and I’ve heard it’s pretty shitty, so no guarantees here.
